HOSPITALITY INDEMNITY INSURANCE
What It Is
A supplemental policy that pays you a fixed cash amount for covered hospital stays or related events. You can use the money for any expense — medical bills, transportation, or everyday costs.
How It Works
-
- Daily hospital benefit (policy-specific)
- Some policies include observation benefits
- Optional riders: skilled nursing, ambulance, outpatient surgery, critical illness
- Benefits are in addition to Medicare and paid directly to you
When It’s Useful
- Medicare Advantage plans with per-day hospital copays
- Cushion for longer or repeated hospital stays
- Flexible cash for non-medical expenses while recovering
Medicare vs. Indemnity
Medicare covers medically necessary services; indemnity adds cash you control. It doesn’t replace Medicare.
Cost & Enrollment
Premiums vary by age, state, and benefit amounts. Some policies have simplified underwriting. You can apply year-round.
